Richard Smallwood was born in Washington, DC, United States. His birth name was Richard Smallwood. His is also called Richard Smallwood.

He is a Gospel music artis who formed The Richard Smallwood Singers in 1977 in Washington, DC.Inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame on November 14, 2006 at the Richland Country Club in Nashville, TN.Received Howard University Distinguished Achievement Award.
