Big L was born on 30 May 1974 in Harlem, New York City, USA. His birth name was Lemont 'Big L' Coleman. His is also called Big L.Big L died on 15 Feb 1999.

Big L's debut solo album, Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous, was released in March 1995.From 1997 to 1999, Big L worked on his second album The Big Picture. The Big Picture would be his last recorded album, released posthumously in August 2000.

Big L released the following albums including Lifestylez Ov Da Poor and Dangerous (1995), The Big Picture (2002), Vol. 2-in Memory of a (2008), Harlem's Greatest (2009) and 139 & Lenox (2010).
