Sgt. Bean

At the station they all called him Sgt. Bean But at our house he was just plain dad to me My mother’s biggest fan A strong and steady man And we got by on his philosophy We’re not here for a long time We gotta promise to have a good time We’re not living forever We gotta promise to stick together 40 years of service, he was tough But we’d sing “wind beneath my wings” and he’d tear up I’ve got a million memories, mum on the ukelaylee And the perfect harmony, the 3 of us singing We’re not here for a long time We gotta promise to have a good time We’re not living forever We gotta promise to stick together There’s days I can’t believe he’s really gone When I run out of reasons to be strong That’s when I swear I hear his voice in my ear Saying “Lulu dry your tears, life goes on” We’re not here for a long time We gotta promise to have a good time We’re not living forever We gotta promise to stick together We’ll always be together
