Strollin'

Strollin' (Nostalgia in Times Square) Music - Charles Mingus, Words - George Gordon first recorded with vocals by Honi Gordon 1959 (header) Strollin' , while strollin' through the park on a lovely but lonely afternoon, without a single thing on my mind and suddenly, there he was standing right beside me.... I started dreaming, he started scheming things I never thought he'd do now he tells me that we're through I just don't know what to do I'm all alone and oh so blue (main verse) I'm Strollin', I'm strollin' I don't know where I'm going but I'm strollin' I'm moanin', I'm moanin' He left me for another and I'm moanin' He said "Honi I'll never let you go, Because I love you so" He promised that he'd care for me But all I saw, was misery I stayed at home each night alone He ran around, painted the town I've gone and let the blues get me down That's why I'm strollin' round All he wanted was my money, it's funny To think I'd live to see the day he'd shun me He away, and I pray, Lord please remove these clouds and make life sunny Because I've got these blues I can't lose I just keep strollin' round He never took me to a show That old routine, he had no dough He'd stay home long enough to eat Dress up, then go out in the street You wondered why I feel the way I do Well that's why I'm so blue Yes those blues they got me Strollin' and sighin' I'm talking to myself to keep from cryin' All alone, he won't phone, I'm so darned miserable I feel like dyin' Because I've got the blues I'm so confused I just keep strollin round (out chorus) Now he tells me that we're through I just don't know what to do I'm all alone and oh so blue Now he tells me that we're through I just don't know what to do I'm all alone and oh so blue I'm strollin' I'm strollin' I don't know where I'm goin' But I'm Strollin' I'm strollin' I'm strollin' I don't know where I'm goin' But I'm Strollin'
