Love in our hearts, we didn't know the world is complicated Gleam in our eyes, time would show just what our love was made of Who knew the way things work in this world we've made for ourselves? Where I work myself to death, and you raise the kids Can't we try to amend our path of struggle for a while? To pretend our lives are free and carefree still? And that I just fell in love with you at the Anchor Grill Money and time… we didn't know they'd be so hard to come by "Look and you'll find"? We didn't know, that's just some fabled school rhyme We'll never get ahead in this world Not 'til we move ahead of this world we've made for ourselves Where there's no time to kiss, and no room to even breathe To pretend our lives are free and carefree still? Can't we try to amend our path of struggle for a while? And that I just fell in love with you At the Anchor Grill It's our life, it's standing right in front of me It's our time, and we know the way we wanna be Can't you see? So let's drop the kids at your folks, let's go Where it's never too late for breakfast And everything's gonna get better Can't we try to amend our path of struggle for a while? Can't we try to amend our path of struggle for a while? To pretend our lives are free and carefree still? 'Cause I just fell in love with you At the Anchor Grill
