500 Up

She comes running down like water To splash around with the ones that taught her She's just like that farmer's daughter Everybody laughs at the joke And we are laughing She don't know what it means She just knows That it's not what it seems Everybody knows that's she's goin' nowhere Everybody always tells her, how much they care When all they really care about is growing their hair And getting it cut And we are laughing She don't know what it means She just knows That it's not what it seems She's runnin' down much faster Home base is around the corner All she can hear is laughter And that's all that's in store for her Sliding downwards, you're the batter That's what they say, 500 up on the ladder She comes running down like water She comes running down Everybody knows that she's goin' nowhere Everybody always tells her, how much they care When all they really care about is cutting their hair Letting it grow And we are laughing She don't know what it means She just knows That it's not what it seems She's runnin' down much faster Home base is around the corner All she can hear is laughter And that's all that's in store for her
