The Engine Driver's Song

She says she's leaving on the first train From Liverpool Street in the morning She says they've had all their chances Should have heeded her final warning They say they'll see her to the station At least let them wave her goodbye But as the train pulled out Not a single tear fell from her eyes Now she's been sad and been confused She's been accused of things she didn't do So now she's going home not a moment too soon To the ones who love her most, engine driver please Does this train take me home, engine driver please Does this train take me Her parents said it would only end in tears So now she's going home without any souvenirs She hopes her parents are there to meet her from the train She falls into their arms and tries her best to explain How she felt sad and so bemused She was accused of things she didn't do So now she's come back home not a moment too soon To the ones who love her most, engine driver please Does this train take me home, engine driver please Does this train take me Kathy's come home Kathy come home Engine driver
